General Motors teams up with EV charging firms EVgo, ChargePoint, Greenlots

General Motors Co. announced Jan. 9 a collaboration with electric-vehicle charging networks EVgo, ChargePoint Inc. and Greenlots to help owners of GM's Chevrolet Bolt EV in finding a charging station, using GM's myChevrolet mobile app.

The Detroit carmaker plans to collect dynamic charging information from the three firms, which together have over 31,000 charging ports in the U.S., for future upgrades of the myChevrolet app. Information to be provided by the three firms would include real-time data on whether a charging station is working, available and compatible with a Bolt EV.

GM also expects to ease enrollments to these charging networks by creating an app interface for all of them. It aims to finalize terms of the partnership during the first quarter of 2019.
