Amazon offers premium support service for up to $60,000/year

While participating in the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show and showcasing Alexa, Amazon.com Inc. is also holding private meetings with third-party sellers in order to talk about its new support service called Marketplace Growth, which would cost vendors between $30,000 to $60,000 a year, CNBC reported Jan. 9.

As part of the service, Amazon sellers are assigned a dedicated account manager who will provide, among other things, coaching and training as well as personalized services aimed at helping to increase sales on the site. Amazon's efforts to engage with its sellers continues even as it ramps up efforts to police the products being sold on its site.

The service is currently only available to vendors selling in the U.S. marketplace, and to participate, sellers must have an active professional selling account in good standing with Amazon.

This is not the first time the company has used gatherings to reach out to sellers, according to the report, citing sellers who said the e-commerce giant conducts similar meetings at events such as trade shows or conferences to discuss the new services Amazon has on offer.

"Over half the items sold on Amazon come from small and medium-sized businesses and the company works hard to support them through new features and services like Marketplace Growth," an Amazon spokesperson told S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Amazon's marketplace accounts for more than 50% of the company's e-commerce volume, the report said, adding that it had grown rapidly over the years by making available Amazon's global fulfillment center, logistics system and shipping ties as well as its broad customer base to millions of outside sellers.
