The Hartford closes senior note offerings

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. closed the offerings of $600 million of its 2.800% senior notes due 2029 and $800 million of its 3.600% senior notes due 2049.

The interest on the notes will be paid every Feb. 19 and Aug. 19 of each year, starting Feb. 19, 2020.

The company used a portion of the net proceeds to retire $588.9 million of its 5.125% senior notes due 2022 and $105.4 million of Navigators Group Inc.'s 5.75% senior notes due 2023 in the cash tender offers announced Aug. 8. Part of the proceeds will be used to finance the redemption of the remainder of 5.125% senior notes due 2022 and 5.75% senior notes due 2023. The remainder of the proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC were representatives of the underwriters. Bank of New York Mellon Trust NA was the trustee.
