Bank Rakyat Indonesia 9-month net profit rises 5.6% YOY

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk reported a 5.6% year-over-year increase in net profit for the nine months to Sept. 30.

The bank's consolidated profit attributable to owner increased to 24.781 trillion Indonesian rupiah from 23.467 trillion rupiah in the year-ago period. EPS rose to 202.69 rupiah from 191.98 rupiah, according to the bank's earnings report.

Net interest income for the period grew to 60.579 trillion rupiah from 57.911 trillion rupiah, while net premium income fell to 290.61 billion rupiah from 623.33 billion rupiah. Income from operations rose to 31.087 trillion rupiah from 29.900 trillion rupiah.

The lender's net interest margin for the period stood at 7.02%, down from 7.61% a year earlier.

The bank's capital adequacy ratio came to 21.62% as of Sept. 30, compared to 21.02% as of Sept. 30, 2018.

Its gross nonperforming loan ratio clocked in at 2.94% from 2.46% in the year-ago period. Its net NPL ratio at the end of September improved to 1.13% from 1.16% at the end of the prior-year period.

As of Oct. 23, US$1 was equivalent to 14,012 Indonesian rupiah.
