Amazon isinvesting between $250,000 and $500,000 in TrackR,maker of a series of products which help users locate missing items, Reutersreported May 2, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Theinvestment was made through Amazon's Alexa Fund, a $100 million fund thatinvests in technologies that help Amazon advance Alexa's capabilities.
Thepartnership will give TrackR a voice response capability and could allowcustomers to locate items via Amazon Echo.
Accordingto its website, TrackR is a Bluetooth device connected to a mobile app, whichmonitors the distance between the phone or tablet and the TrackR device. SantaBarbara, Calif.-based TrackR was co-founded by CEO Chris Herbert and PresidentChristian Smith.
