Report: Amazon testing delivery service

E-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. is testing a new delivery service called "Seller Flex" that could rival FedEx Corp and United Parcel Service Inc, Bloomberg News reported Oct. 5, citing two people familiar with the matter.

The delivery service would make more items available for free two-day shipping and clear room in Amazon's crowded warehouses. Amazon has been testing the service in India for two years, although it was just deployed to the West Coast on a trial basis earlier this year. The company plans to introduce the service in more locations in 2018, according to the report.

Amazon did not immediately respond to S&P Global Market Intelligence's request for comment.
