Workers at Glencore Plc's Bolívar zinc mine in Bolivia staged a hunger strike in abid to oust general manager Juan Carlos Trillo, Business News Americas wroteApril 13 citing Bolívar union leader Germán Chaparro.
Apart from accusing Trillo of cutting back on workerbenefits, the union is also holding the manager responsible for a fatalaccident at the mine.
Chaparro said the union has informed both the company andthe labor ministry of its actions, and gave Trillo 48 hours to leave.
According to the report, a Glencore spokesman did notimmediately respond to an email seeking a comment on the matter.
Bolivian state-run mining firm is Glencore's joint venturepartner in the Bolívar mine.
