TechnipFMC/DOF Subsea joint-venture vessel begins work off Brazilian coast

The Skandi Recife, a Brazilian-flagged flexible lay and construction vessel owned jointly by offshore services companies TechnipFMC PLC and DOF ASA, commenced its 8-year charter contract with Petroleo Brasileiro SA, according to a June 14 press release.

The vessel will work in the Campos, Santos and Espírito Santo basins.

Under the 50-50 joint venture agreement, TechnipFMC will manage flexible pipelay and DOF Subsea will be responsible for marine operations.

Skandi Recife has state-of-the-art pipelay and marine technology, a 340 tons Vertical Lay System tower, 2,500 tons underdeck carousel and two remotely operated vehicles. These allow flexible pipes to be laid in water depths up to 2,500 meters.
