Tenaska, co-owners bring online 940-MW gas-fired plant in Pennsylvania

Tenaska Pennsylvania Partners LLC on Dec. 21 achieved commercial operation at the 940-MW Westmoreland natural gas-fired power plant in Pennsylvania.

The combined-cycle facility is in South Huntingdon Township, in Pennsylvania's Westmoreland County, and will deliver electricity to the PJM Interconnection market. The estimated cost of the project was approximately $971.3 million, or $1,050 per kW, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data.

Construction of the Westmoreland plant began in 2016. Black & Veatch Holding Co. provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the project, while Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd. supplied the two gas-fueled turbines.
