Lindian Resources expands Lushoto bauxite project in Tanzania

Lindian Resources Ltd. said Oct. 5 that it significantly expanded the Lushoto bauxite project in Tanzania with the addition of three new tenement applications.

The new applications cover 90 square kilometers and bring the total project area to 143 square kilometers. The areas form part of the company's 75% farm-in right over Lushoto.

Additionally, the company identified and mapped two new outcropping deposits — Mlalo and Mkomazi — within the new tenement areas as part of ongoing fieldwork at the project.

The Mlalo and Mkomazi deposits provide the company with further high-priority targets to be tested under its maiden drill program scheduled to begin later in the year.

Following the completion of drilling, Lindian will target a maiden JORC resource, which would potentially form the basis of a long-term, direct shipping ore mining operation at Lushoto.

The company is testing all three deposits with surface sampling and trenching to confirm the thickness and grade of mineralization ahead of the scheduled drilling.

Meanwhile, negotiations are continuing with local government authorities to obtain drill permits.
