Report: Indonesian president nominates new central bank chief

Indonesian President Joko Widodo reportedly nominated Perry Warjiyo to become the next governor of the country's central bank.

Sofjan Wanandi, a senior adviser to Vice President Jusuf Kalla, confirmed the nomination, Reuters reported Feb. 24.

Warjiyo serves as deputy governor of the Bank Indonesia. He will replace Agus Martowardojo, whose five-year term ends in May, after the president's nomination gets parliamentary approval, the report noted.
