Walt Disney Co. has backed 21st Century Fox Inc.'s call to ensure privacy of its data, in relation to the AT&T Inc.-Time Warner Inc. antitrust trial, Reuters reported Dec. 21.
In a request sent to Judge Richard Leon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Disney wants to have its data protected, which it previously submitted as part of the AT&T-Time Warner deal review.
"The complex and competitive business relationships between Fox and defendants that make Fox wary of disclosing sensitive information in this lawsuit are nearly identical to those between TWDC (the Walt Disney Co) and defendants," Disney said in the request.
Fox previously made a similar request to protect its own data, wanting to bar any lawyer handling said data from working on any matter involving Fox without its consent for two years, among other things. Disney is buying Fox in a $52.4 billion all-stock deal.
