First Solar selling 2 Utah solar projects to D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments

First Solar Inc. is selling two solar photovoltaic projects in Utah, totaling 180 MWac, to D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 58-MW Cove Mountain and the 122-MW Cove Mountain 2 projects are currently under construction and expected to be completed in the second and fourth quarters of 2020, according to an Oct. 23 news release. Both projects have long-term power purchase agreements with Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary PacifiCorp on behalf of Facebook.

The projects will be operated by First Solar Energy Services upon completion.
