Amazon executive in charge of Prime to leave company

Amazon.com Inc.'s top executive in charge of the company's Prime service is leaving the company.

Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Prime and delivery experience, confirmed his departure in a post on the professional networking website LinkedIn on March 5.

"It has been an amazing and inspirational experience, but the time has come for me [to] take on a different challenge," Greeley wrote.

Amazon did not respond to a request for comment from S&P Global Market Intelligence, including a question on when Greeley will leave his post.

Greeley first joined Amazon in 1999, serving as a vice president of operations finance after stints at UAL Corp., then the operator of United Airlines, and Sun Microsystems Inc., according to his LinkedIn profile. At Amazon, he has overseen multiple parts of the e-commerce giant's business, including its international expansion as well as its division in charge of books, music, video games and movies.

His announced departure comes as Amazon is expanding Prime and its delivery business, including at Whole Foods Market Inc., where the Seattle-based company is making Prime the main program for customer rewards and piloting a two-hour delivery service for some food and alcohol products.
