Porsche to recall 50,000 cars in China

German carmaker Porsche AG said March 5 that it is recalling about 50,000 cars in China due to safety risks.

The Volkswagen AG-owned sports-car maker filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation, or SAMR, recalling 15,942 Cayman and Boxster 718 models manufactured between March 2, 2016, and Feb. 14. The vehicles were at potential risk of a fuel tank damage caused by its longitudinal crash beam in case of a severe frontal crash.

The company said it had already started on Feb. 28 a separate recall of 34,290 Panamera and Cayenne models manufactured between March 21, 2017, and June 27, 2018. The vehicles' yellow warning lights indicating that the brake pads are worn out were not continuously illuminated.
