Friday's Bank Stocks: Financials, broader markets slip

U.S. bank and thrift stocks, along with broader markets, closed lower Friday, Dec. 29.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.48% to 24,719.22, the S&P 500 declined 0.52% to 2,673.61, and the Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 0.67% to 6,903.39.

The nation's largest banks ended the day in the red, with Bank of America Corp. falling 0.94% to $29.52, Citigroup Inc. slipping 0.89% to $74.41, JPMorgan Chase & Co. losing 0.79% to $106.94, and Wells Fargo & Co. declining 1.03% to $60.67.

Among notable movers, Meridian Bancorp Inc. dropped 2.83% to $20.60, First Financial Bankshares Inc. fell 2.91% to $45.05, FB Financial Corp. shrank 2.48% to $41.99, and FCB Financial Holdings Inc. decreased 2.68% to $50.80.
