Fiat Chrysler US sales up 10% in August

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's new vehicle sales in the U.S. rose 10% in August from the same month a year ago, led by its Jeep and Ram brands, the company said Sept. 4.

Fiat Chrysler sold 193,718 vehicles during the month, up from 176,033 vehicles in August 2017.

U.S. Retail sales were up 17% overall, as Fleet sales accounted for 15% of total sales.

The company's Ram brand notched its best month of August sales ever with 54,808 units sold, compared with 43,322 in August 2017. Sales of the company's Jeep brand rose 20% year over year.

Sales of the Fiat brand dropped 35% year over year to 1,374 vehicles. The company's Chrysler brand saw its sales decline 3% from a year earlier to 12,219 units.

The company's Dodge brand also registered a year-over-year decline of 18% in its sales for August.
