US State Department approves $3.3B missile sale to Japan

The U.S. State Department cleared the potential sale of up to 73 Standard Missile-3 Block IIA missiles to Japan with an estimated cost of approximately $3.30 billion.

The prime contractor for the missiles will be Raytheon Co., the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a news release.

The possible weapons sale also includes MK 29 Canisters, with BAE Systems PLC as the prime contractor.
