Tesla Inc. let go of hundreds of employees following annual performance reviews, San Jose, Calif.'s The Mercury News reported Oct. 13.
The affected staff included engineers, managers and factory workers. Several former and current employees told the publication that little or no warnings were issued to the employees before they were fired. The company let go of between 400 and 700 staff, the employees added.
A spokesman for the company confirmed the dismissals but insisted that they were not layoffs.
