Japanese cosmetics maker Shiseido Co. Ltd. plans to establish personnel training centers with an aim to develop global talent, the Nikkei Asian Review reported March 4.
The first training center is set to launch in Singapore in September, according to the report. It will accept about 2,000 people per year, who will take courses ranging from cosmetics business to management.
Similar centers in the U.S. and Europe are expected to open by 2019-end. Shiseido anticipates that all three locations will accommodate 4,000 people per year, with a mix of local and Japanese personnel talent.
Courses will run from several weeks to months, and the company will consider adding digital marketing to the curriculum as well as collaborating with local universities, the report said.
In addition, Shiseido will make English the official language at its Tokyo headquarters starting in October as part of its globalization initiative. Approximately 1,700 employees are reportedly taking English lessons paid for by the company.
Shiseido's recently unveiled three-year strategy calls for expanding international market share.
