Financial technology and payments
The stock market debuts of digital lender Greensky Inc. and payments processor EVO Payments Inc. in the second quarter drove Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC to the No. 1 spot in the common equity league table for the financial technology and payments sectors for the first half of 2018.
The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. unit was among the book managers for EVO's $224.0 million initial public offering and for Greensky's $1.01 billion IPO. Morgan Stanley, which ranked second through two quarters, was also a book manager on the Greensky IPO.
Goldman Sachs & Co. also earned the most deal credit for debt offerings in the financial technology and payments space as of June 30 with a cumulative deal value of $1.94 billion from eight offerings.
Specialty finance and mortgage REIT
Two second-quarter deals helped Morgan Stanley take the top spot in the common equity underwriter rankings among specialty finance and mortgage REIT companies by deal value for the six months ended June 30.
The investment bank finished the first two quarters of 2018 with deal credit of $316.2 million from four offerings. In the second quarter, Morgan Stanley was among book managers on AGNC Investment Corp.'s $633.4 million follow-on offering and Cherry Hill Mortgage Investment Corp.'s $49.6 million follow-on offering.
Through the first two quarters of 2018, Bank of America Corp. led the deal value league table for debt offerings in the specialty finance and mortgage REIT sectors with deal credit of $5.24 billion from 75 offerings.
Asset management and investment banks, brokers and capital markets
Morgan Stanley topped the number-of-deals and deal credit common equity league tables for asset management, investment banking, broker and capital markets companies for the first half of 2018.
In the three months ended June 30, the investment bank was among book managers on Hercules Capital Inc.'s $72.9 million follow-on offering and Virtu Financial Inc.'s $483.0 million follow-on offering.
Goldman Sachs & Co. secured the top spot for debt underwriter rankings for the asset management, investment banks, brokers and capital markets sectors through the two quarters of 2018 by deal value with deal credit of $16.39 billion across 70 offerings.
