Apple poaches 3 Amazon execs; Cable & Wireless gets new CEO

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly rundown of executive changes in the U.S. media and communications industries.

* Uber Technologies Inc. is selling its U.S. auto-leasing business Xchange Leasing to startup car marketplace, The Wall Street Journal reported Dec. 26, citing sources with knowledge of the matter. Under the deal, Fair will hire nearly 150 employees of Xchange Leasing.

* Online retailer eBay Inc. closed its purchase of Toronto-based data provider Terapeak Inc., according to a Dec. 22 news release. Terapeak's team joined eBay's B2C Selling and Seller Experience groups.

* Apple Inc. poached three Inc. executives, Variety reported Dec. 21. Tara Sorensen, head of Amazon kids programming, will assume a similar position at Apple, and Carina Walker, international development executive at Amazon, will also work in a similar capacity at the iPhone maker. Also, Tara Pietri, business affairs chief at the online retailer, will head Apple's legal affairs division.

* Cable & Wireless Communications, Inc. appointed Inge Smidts CEO of the company. Smidts succeeds John Reid, who recently announced he will step down from the position of CEO in early 2018. Smidts, who most recently was chief marketing officer of C&W parent Liberty Global plc, is expected to start in her new role in February 2018.

* Former Univision Radio Inc. executive Pedro Javier González joined iHeartMedia Inc. as senior vice president of programming for iHeartLatino. In this new role, González will oversee the iHeartLatino brand and programming strategy, the company said Dec. 20. González previously was vice president of content for Univision Radio, a unit of Univision Communications Inc.

* Dentsu Aegis Network Ltd. has agreed to acquire 100% of U.S. digital media and marketing agency David Wood & Associates Inc. Post-deal completion, DWA employees will join Merkle. Dentsu Aegis Network is the global business hub of Japanese advertising conglomerate Dentsu Inc.
