Century Casinos eyes Bermuda launch

Century Casinos Inc. applied for a license for a casino in Bermuda at the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club in Hamilton, Bermuda, jointly with local company Hamilton Properties Ltd., which owns the property.

There are currently no casinos in Bermuda, and the company's casino license application is believed to be the island's only one at this time, according to a release. With about 12,000 square feet of gaming space, the casino would feature 17 gaming tables, 200 slot machines and an automated roulette machine.

Century entered into a long-term management agreement with Hamilton Properties through its Austria-based Century Casinos Europe GmbH subsidiary to manage the operations of the planned casino. Under the deal, the Austrian unit would provide a loan of $5 million for casino equipment.

The application will be heard Sept. 22 and the granting of a license is subject to the final approval of the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission.
