J.B. Hunt Transport Services Q3 profit climbs 12.4% YOY

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said its normalized net income for the third quarter came to 100 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 97 cents per share.

EPS increased 14.3% year over year from 87 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $116.3 million, a gain of 12.4% from $103.4 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 7.3% from 6.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue totaled $1.59 billion, compared with $1.60 billion in the year-earlier period, and total operating expenses decreased from the prior-year period to $1.39 billion from $1.43 billion.

Reported net income increased 11.9% from the prior-year period to $115.1 million, or 99 cents per share, from $102.9 million, or 87 cents per share.
