Report: ETP buys ranch near Dakota Access pipeline protest site

EnergyTransfer Partners LP bought a ranch in North Dakota near theencampment set up by protesters fighting the Dakota Access pipeline project, TheAssociated Press reported Sept. 23.

An Energy Transfer spokesperson confirmed the purchasebut declined to provide any more detail to S&P Global Market Intelligence.

The deal with property owners David and Brenda Meyerof Flasher, N.D., included the sale of 20 parcels of land spanning over 6,000acres under financial terms not disclosed in the AP report. The deal wasfinalized Sept. 22, the report said.

The protesters are supporting members of the nearbyStanding Rock Sioux Tribe, which sued to block the $3.7 billion oil pipelineproject. The tribe was defeated in court Sept. 9, but the federal governmentacted the same day to halt construction.
