Albania keeps monetary policy rate at 1.25%

The Banka e Shqipërisë supervisory council on Aug. 2 decided to maintain its monetary policy rate at 1.25%.

The council also kept unchanged the interest rate for the overnight deposit facility at 0.25% and the interest rate for the overnight lending facility at 2.25%.

Bank of Albania Governor Gent Sejko said indirect available data suggest "moderate" growth in the second quarter from 3.9% GDP growth in the first quarter.

Inflation in the second quarter averaged 2.0%, down from the 2.4% average recorded in the previous quarter, said Sejko.
