Total U.S. nuclear plant availability saw a modest increase early March 6 to 90.62%, up from 90.32% on March 5 and higher than the 88.14% reported on the same day last year.
Lifting total output was increased production at two reactors. Entergy Corp.'s Indian Point 2 in New York was at full power early March 6, up from 87% on March 5. Southern Co.'s Hatch 1 in Georgia was operating at 95% power early March 6, climbing from 58% on March 5.
On the other hand, Entergy's Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Massachusetts saw output curtailed from 100% on March 5 to 62% early March 6.
With the spring refueling season beginning to ramp up, it should be noted that eight reactors are currently offline as of early March 6.
