OCC approves First-Sunshine deal

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has signed off on Sunshine Community Bank's pending merger into First, a National Banking Association.

Approval was granted Feb. 27, according to the regulator's website.

Hattiesburg, Miss.-based First Bancshares Inc. is buying Sunshine Financial Inc. of Tallahassee, Fla. The cash-and-stock transaction was valued at $32.1 million when it was announced in December 2017.
