Coeur records 10% increase in year-end 2017 silver equivalent reserves

Coeur Mining Inc. said Feb. 6 that its year-end 2017 reserves and resources from continuing operations recorded a 10% jump to 335.8 million silver equivalent ounces in the proven and probable categories.

Measured and indicated resources, on the other hand, improved 42% and 45% from year-end 2016 to approximately 385.7 million silver equivalent ounces and 171.0 million silver equivalent ounces, respectively.

The rise in ore reserves was driven primarily by 36% and 17% year-over-year silver equivalent increases at Wharf and Palmarejo, respectively.

At the Wharf project in South Daklota, year-end 2017 proven and probable reserves totaled 869,000 ounces of gold, compared to 639,000 ounces of gold the prior year. The Palmarejo project in Mexico increased its silver and gold reserves by 15% and 19% to 47.0 million ounces and 706,000 ounces, respectively.

In addition, the company's year-end resources reflect the addition of the Silvertip silver-zinc-lead mine in northern British Columbia, part of its September 2017 acquisition of privately owned JDS Silver Holdings Ltd. and subsidiary JDS Silver Inc.
