Coalexports from the Hampton Roads facilities in Virginia totaled over 1.7 milliontons in April, according to data obtained from the Virginia MaritimeAssociation, up 10.6% compared to March'snumbers but down 30.5% from the year ago period.

Coalexports from Norfolk SouthernCorp.'s Lamberts Point facility, which primarily handlesmetallurgical coal, totaled 694,610 tons in April, reflecting a 35.4% drop fromthe roughly 1.08 million tons shipped in April 2015.
'sPier IX facility, which mostly handles thermal coal, exported 332,759 tons,down roughly 19.9% compared to the 415,619 tons from the prior-year period.
Coalexports from the DominionTerminal Associates facility, owned by coal producers ,Arch Coal Inc. andPeabody Energy Corp.,fell 29.6% to 711,272 tons in April, compared to 1.01 million tons of April2015.
Year-to-dateexports through the three Hampton Roads facilities are down 37.1%.
