Discovery Inc. launched ad-supported streaming service dplay in the U.K. and Ireland.
The new platform offers content from Discovery's free-to-air channels, such as Quest, Quest Red, Really and Food Network.
Discovery's move to launch dplay in the U.K. and Ireland comes after the company nearly doubled its U.K. audience in the last two years, according to James Gibbons, Discovery's general manager for U.K./Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Dplay launched February in a number of markets, including Norway, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Spain, the Nordics, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The streaming service is expected to launch in more markets, Discovery said in an Oct. 22 news release.
Dlay is accessible through the web, Apple Inc.'s iOS and Google LLC's Android app stores. The streaming service will be available on partner platforms and on additional devices and platforms in the first half of 2020.
