Dollar General to build 2nd distribution facility in Texas

Discount retail chain Dollar General Corp. said Dec. 27 that it is set to start building a new distribution center in Longview, Texas, in early 2018.

The facility will span nearly 1 million square feet and serve about 1,000 Dollar General stores in the state. It also is expected to create approximately 400 jobs in the Gregg County area.

The planned center will be Dollar General's 17th facility in its distribution network and the second in Texas, following the Bexar County distribution center that opened in 2016. An opening date was not given.
