Ahold Delhaize's Mega Image to buy Romanian supermarket peer Zanfir

Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV said March 15 that its Romanian supermarket chain Mega Image SRL has agreed to acquire Zanfir SNC, which owns and operates supermarkets in eastern Romania.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but Ahold Delhaize said the deal has already been approved by the Romanian Competition Council.

Upon completion of the deal, Zanfir's stores will be integrated into Mega Image's network to be converted into Mega Image and Shop & Go stores, according to the release.

Mega Image currently operates 677 stores under the Shop & Go, Gusturi Românești and its namesake brand in Romania.
