BHE Renewables closes acquisition of 110-MW Texas solar farm

BHE Renewables LLC closed the purchase of the 110-MW Alamo 6 solar facility from OCI Solar Power LLC after securing Public Utility Commission of Texas approval.

The acquisition will boost the solar generation capacity of the Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary to 1,484 MW, according to a Jan. 18 company release. Located in Pecos County, the solar project started construction in May 2015 and aims to reach commercial operation by early 2017. It will link the Electric Reliability Council of Texas Inc. region through the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Output of the facility will be purchased by CPS Energy under a 25-year power contract.
