Georgia Power restores power to 97% of customers impacted by hurricane

Georgia Power Co. said as of 12 p.m. ET on Oct. 15, it has restored power to 97% of its customers in the areas hit by Hurricane Michael.

The remaining two areas with outages are around Albany, Ga., where power is expected to be back by 8 p.m. ET on Oct. 15, and the Bainbridge area, where the restoration process is expected to be complete by 8 p.m. ET on Oct. 16.

The Southern Co. subsidiary estimates that more than 1,000 electric poles and 200 transformers were damaged during the hurricane.
