NBCU may launch OTT service in 2019

NBCUniversal Media LLC President and CEO Steve Burke has hinted at plans to launch an over-the-top service in 2019, as part of the company's online TV strategy, Bloomberg News reported.

The Comcast Corp. unit has yet to unveil a streaming platform, in contrast to separate plans by Walt Disney Co. and AT&T Inc. next year.

Comcast CFO Michael Cavanagh has earlier suggested that the company is already working on its direct-to-consumer offer but has no plans to pattern it after streaming giant Netflix Inc.
