Wall Street moves: Stifel names managing director, Cowen names 2 execs at unit

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly rundown of selected executive management changes among the major Wall Street investment banks and other notable moves. The changes are listed by announcement date in reverse chronological order.

Feb. 28

Dina Powell, a former deputy national security adviser to President Donald Trump, is coming back to Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Bloomberg reported. She will be a member of the management committee.

Feb. 27

Cowen Inc. announced two management changes at its subsidiary, Cowen & Co. LLC. Philip Cushman was appointed head of global institutional sales, while Burton Welly was named head of special situations and distressed credit trading.

Stifel Financial Corp. named Juan Bonifacino managing director to head newly launched shareholder activism defense practice. He will be based in New York.

Fixed-income technology platform 280 CapMarkets appointed Alex Buchler head of taxable institutional fixed-income sales. Michael Cullen was also appointed to lead 280 CapMarkets' U.S. investment-grade corporate bond trading platform, while Karl Mayr will oversee the company's high-yield corporate bond trading platform. Lastly, John Lomangino joined the company's municipal institutional sales team.

Feb. 26

Dallas-based Blackhill Partners LLC joined Stephens Inc. and 14 former Blackhill employees, including principals Lance Gurley, Jeff Jones, Eric Scroggins and Joe Stone, are now part of Stephens' U.S. restructuring advisory practice. Gurley, Jones, Scroggins and Stone are managing directors in their new roles.

Ziegler named Donald Husi as managing director for its investment banking team in for-profit senior living corporate finance.

Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. appointed Leland Gershell managing director and senior analyst on the life sciences research team.

Citi Private Bank appointed Kristen Bitterly Michell capital markets head for the Americas.

Feb. 23

Charles Schwab Corp.'s board named Joseph Martinetto COO.

Steward Partners Global Advisory added Alan Raffer as director, and Sherry Birnbaum and Jeremy Raffer as senior vice presidents from the Raffer Investment Group from Wells Fargo & Co.

Feb. 22

B. Riley FBR Inc. appointed Daniel Leland as head of fixed income capital markets.
