Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 came to ¥49.45 per share, a gain of 23.9% from ¥39.89 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥8.17 billion, a gain of 23.9% from ¥6.59 billion in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 8.1% from 7.0% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 7.8% on an annual basis to ¥101.43 billion from ¥94.12 billion, and total operating expenses rose 6.9% from the prior-year period to ¥89.11 billion from ¥83.38 billion.
Reported net income increased 19.7% on an annual basis to ¥9.05 billion, or ¥54.77 per share, from ¥7.56 billion, or ¥45.75 per share.
