Cloud Peak reported sales of 13.5 million tons of coal in the most recent quarter, compared with 16.7 million tons in the fourth quarter a year earlier. The average sales price was $11.98 per ton, compared with $12.15 per ton a year earlier.
For the full year, GAAP net loss was $6.6 million, or a loss of 9 cents per share, compared with a net income $21.8 million, or 35 cents per share, a year earlier.
The S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized earnings estimate for the year was a loss of 33 cents per share. Revenue for the full year totaled $887.7 million, compared with $800.4 million the previous year.
The company sold 57.4 million tons of coal during the year, compared with 58.5 million tons the previous year. The average sales price was $12.17 per ton, compared with $12.40 per ton a year earlier.
