US bank market cap ranking Q1'17

JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Wells Fargo & Co. remained firmly atop a ranking of the largest 20 U.S. banks by market capitalization, as of March 31. The ranking remained mostly stable, with the top 12 banks maintaining their positions from the previous two quarters.

At $313.76 billion, JPMorgan's market cap rose 1.6% between Dec. 31, 2016, and March 31, 2017. Wells Fargo's market cap rose 0.6% to $278.52 billion.

Among the top 20 banks, Bank of America Corp. saw the largest increase in market cap between Dec. 31, 2016, and March 31, 2017, with a 5.8% increase to $236.18 billion.

After a strong post election rally, bank stocks have retreated due to anticipated delays over tax and regulatory reform efforts that investors saw fueling higher bank income.
