Antam targets jump in 2018 nickel ore sales

PT Antam (Persero) Tbk. CEO Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo told Reuters that the company is aiming for a 162% rise in nickel ore sales volume next year, to 11 million tonnes from an estimated 4.2 million tonnes this year, the newswire wrote Nov. 22.

Of the targeted volume, 3.9 million tonnes of nickel ore will be exported and the remaining ore will be sold domestically, including to Antam's smelters, though Ariotedjo said domestic sales this year were "minimal."

The state-owned miner is also looking to increase ferronickel sales to 26,000 tonnes from the projected 22,300 tonnes this year.

Antam sold 1.7 million tonnes of nickel ore in the third quarter, jumping from 213,222 tonnes in the same period of 2016.
