Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant posts 4.7% higher output in FY'17

Russian zinc producer PJSC Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant produced 183,002 tonnes of salable, special, high-grade zinc and zinc-based alloys in 2017, a 4.7% year-over-year increase.

Chelyabinsk affiliate Nova Zinc LLC, which operates the Akzhal zinc-lead ore mine in Kazakhstan, produced 36,530 tonnes of zinc in concentrate in 2017, down from 36,718 tonnes in 2016.

Output of lead in concentrate dropped to 4,281 tonnes, compared to 5,677 tonnes a year ago, the company said March 27.

Sales from Chelyabinsk's U.K.-based subsidiary, The Brock Metal Co. Ltd., increased 12.3% year over year to 41,461 tonnes of zinc alloys in 2017. Brock Metal supplies zinc die-casting alloys.
