Supermarket chain Kroger Co. is teaming up with California-based online wine retailer Drinks Holdings Inc. to launch a wine delivery business, Bloomberg News reported Oct. 15.
The delivery service will initially be offered to Kroger customers in 14 U.S. states, with plans to expand to more locations later, according to the report.
It will sell wines from a variety of regions such as California and France, but they will not be labeled with the Kroger brand name, Bloomberg said. They will reportedly be priced between $10.83 and $16.67 per bottle and can be purchased in assorted packs of six or 12 bottles.
Kroger's move follows wine ventures by other retail chains, such as Target Corp.'s 2017 debut of a line of $5 wines made from California-grown grapes.
