Report: NFL seeks bids for additional seasons of Thursday Night Football

The National Football League is seeking bids by media companies for additional seasons of Thursday Night Football, Multichannel News reported Dec. 22, citing sources familiar with the details.

With bids due in January 2018, the NFL asked media companies to submit the bids or the package could be sold to a streaming company like Amazon.com Inc.

Walt Disney Co.'s majority-owned ESPN (US) recently struck a deal to let users stream Monday Night Football on mobile phones. Also, Comcast Corp.'s NBCUniversal Media LLC secured rights to stream Sunday Night Football through NBC (US)' TV Everywhere offering on all mobile devices, starting with the 2018 season.
