NTELOS' short interest falls in early April

NTELOSHoldings Corp. topped the list of short interest decliners amongcommunications companies measured by SNL Kagan in the first half of April.

The Waynesboro, Va.-based firm's shortinterest fell 672 basis points between March 31 and April 15 to 17.76% ofoutstanding shares. The FCC recently approved ShenandoahTelecommunications Co.'s planned acquisition of NTELOS.

Among short interest gainers, took the lead, itsshort interest position gaining 173 basis points to 7.73% of outstanding shares.

CharterCommunications Inc. maintainedits position as the most heavily shorted communications stock, with shortinterest on 26.63% of outstanding shares as of April 15. Multichannel News reported April 14 that Charter Clearview Networks for anundisclosed amount.
