RES starts construction of Invenergy's 160-MW solar project in Georgia

Renewable Energy Systems Ltd. started construction of Invenergy LLC's 160-MW Southern Oak solar project in Mitchell County, Ga.

The project will use bifacial solar modules, which generate power from both sides of the panels, according to a March 21 news release.

Southern Oak is projected to be operational by the end of 2019. Upon completion, Southern Oak will sell all of its output to Georgia Power Co. through the utility's Renewable Energy Development Initiative program.

Georgia Power is a subsidiary of Southern Co.
