Google Inc.-owned video streaming giant YouTube launched a new feature that will label state-sponsored news broadcasters.
"Our goal is to equip users with additional information to help them better understand the sources of news content that they choose to watch on YouTube," Senior Product Manager YouTube News Geoff Samek wrote in a Feb. 2 official blog post.
The feature will initially be available to users in the U.S. The notice will appear below the video but above its title, and include a link to the news broadcaster's Wikipedia page.
Google is owned by Alphabet Inc.
