Unum announces parental leave, compensation program enhancements

Unum Group has announced paid parental leave benefit for both mothers and fathers in the U.S., along with enhancements to the compensation program to ensure that U.S. employees earn a minimum of $15 an hour.

Additionally, the company is making an additional $1 million in charitable contributions in support of communities where Unum employees live and work.

The parental leave benefit, which will take effect later in 2018, gives eligible employees six weeks of paid leave to care for a newborn, or a child placed through adoption or foster care, at any time during the 12 months following birth, adoption or fostering.

The enhancements to the compensation program will show up in paychecks March 30.
