Kyocera Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was ¥48.95 per share, a decrease of 16.3% from ¥58.50 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥17.96 billion, a decline of 16.3% from ¥21.46 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin dropped to 4.7% from 5.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue came to ¥383.33 billion, compared with ¥379.62 billion in the prior-year period, and total operating expenses climbed from the prior-year period to ¥353.96 billion from ¥343.65 billion.
Reported net income declined 20.5% from the prior-year period to ¥19.22 billion, or ¥52.38 per share, from ¥24.18 billion, or ¥65.92 per share.
As of Nov. 12, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.92.
