Amdocs profit misses consensus by 43.7% in fiscal Q1

Amdocs Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, came to 48 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 86 cents per share.

EPS fell 14.9% year over year from 57 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $73.7 million, a decrease of 17.6% from $89.4 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 8.0% from 9.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew on an annual basis to $921.5 million from $906.3 million, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to $802.0 million from $764.8 million.

Reported net income declined 23.0% year over year to $101.0 million, or 66 cents per share, from $131.2 million, or 83 cents per share.
